In an age when everything is moving to the Cloud (voice and other applications), losing internet connectivity can be catastrophic. The fact is internet outages will occur — it’s just a matter of when they do, will you be prepared?
Inc. magazine cites a Zetta survey which reports that 54 percent of IT professionals have experienced a network outage lasting eight or more hours. Downtime like this, according to Gartner, can cost large companies more than $300,000 per hour and Networkworld places the financial impact of an outage on a small-to-medium business (SMB) to be in the range of $8,000 to $70,000 per hour.

Unfortunately, many firms are ill-prepared for an outage and even a short duration one can take a business off the air when that business relies on a single internet provider. Think dollar stores, tires stores, and beauty salons. No internet means no phone calls, no point-of-sale transactions, no email – no way to communicate.

If a business’ primary ISP is suffering a degradation, we replicate the voice over LTE to ensure the business can make and receive phone calls, but the service is intelligent enough to keep data flowing over the wired ISP. Data traffic is not as sensitive as real-time voice is to packet loss and poor internet service. If the primary ISP goes completely out of service, we move the data traffic over to LTE and when the primary ISP recovers, we move it all back.
Other services which use LTE as a backup often simply failover voice and data to LTE in the event of trouble, but LTE data service can be expensive, so we went the extra step in adding intelligence to our solution.
